Diversity and Social Inclusion Initiatives

An initiative on sustainable education through experiential and empathetic learning to promote Nation building

The DSI Club at Christ University is dedicated to driving impactful initiatives across multiple domains with a focus on social responsibility and sustainable development. The club operates five key projects:

Suraksha Chakra: Suraksha Chakra is a pan India project designed to enhance the social skills of students through community exposure and create social intellectual capital contributing towards nation building initiatives of the Government. In this project students get opportunities to work in rural India to find their real-time problems and provide a meaningful and sustainable solution based on their classroom engagement. Communities for this project are identified after a careful study considering students safety, learning opportunities and the level of difficulties like people below poverty line, presence of tribal population, higher incidence of man animal conflict. This project is directly aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG number 10 (Reduced Inequalities) and SDG number 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). This project is also contributing a value proposition in terms of facilitating the last mile journey and last mile delivery of different state and central government schemes.

One of the innovative disruptions under this project is pan India Insurance Coverage Program. This program is designed to spread the insurance literacy (The last mile journey) and Complete insurance coverage (The last mile delivery).

DhanDrishti: The Financial Literacy Programme (FLP), also called DhanDrishti, is a dynamic initiative by the School of Commerce, Finance and Accountancy, aimed at elevating individuals' financial well-being by addressing key pillars of financial literacy. At its core, the program emphasizes instilling a positive and responsible attitude toward money, fostering awareness of financial intricacies, and bolstering foundational financial knowledge. The Financial Literacy Program, DhanDrishti was conceptualized and envisaged as a holistic endeavour to disseminate financial knowledge and empower individuals across diverse socio-economic strata.

The financial literacy program mainly focuses on teaching students and for this a teaching model and methodology plays a crucial role. We adopted a scientific principle names the Zygarnic Principle which emphasises on continuous and progressive learning. Thus FLP is not only a source of knowledge but also a life skill.
